Greensboro Economic Development
Alliance
Recognized by Business Facilities Magazine for HondaJet Project
Greensboro, NC (Nov 30, 2007) – Business Facilities Magazine, a leading media resource for companies interested in expanding or relocating, has announced the winners of the 2007 Economic Development Deal of the Year Award. Greensboro Economic Development Alliance received an honorable mention for the Honda Aircraft Company project. Honda Aircraft Company, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Honda Motor Co., Ltd., chose Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro, NC in February 2007 for their world headquarters, certification and testing facility, and manufacturing operation for the new very light HondaJet. The company will invest $100 million and employ 350 associates.
The Economic Development Deal of the Year Award is in its 15th year and is given to the locations and economic development organizations that land the most challenging, highest-impact corporate expansions that occurred from July 1, 2006 to the entry deadline of September 29, 2007. Other economic development agencies that were honored were the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development for the Westinghouse Electric Company project and the Mississippi Development Authority for the Toyota Motor Manufacturing project. Greensboro Economic Development Alliance (GEDA) was the only city/county organization to receive an award.
“We are thrilled to be recognized in a national publication for
landing the Honda project,” commented GEDA President Dan Lynch. “The
Honda team was a pleasure to work with and our partners on this project
– local and state – did a phenomenal job collaborating with us to
recruit Honda Aircraft Company.”
The Economic Deal of the Year Awards
will be featured in the December issue of Business Facilities Magazine.
