Greensboro Ranked in Top Development Deals of 2007
 by Site Selection Magazine

May 6, 2008 (Greensboro, NC) – Site Selection Magazine, one of the leading publications in the site development field, has awarded an honorable mention to the Greensboro based Honda Aircraft Company project in their Top Economic Development Deal of the Year list in the May 2008 issue.  The list comprises the most prominent economic development deals throughout North America and internationally in 2007.  These deals are distinguished by very substantial capital investment, high-value jobs, and creativity in the negotiation process.

Greensboro is in good company with many of the other cities distinguished by one of these top projects.  In the top ten list are the Lenoir, NC based Google data center project, the Amazon.com corporate headquarters move in Seattle, and the Rolls-Royce project in Prince George County, Virginia.  An Intel project in China and a Texas Instruments project in the Philippines were listed in the international projects list.

“Being listed along with the most prominent economic development projects in the world is quite an honor for Honda Aircraft Company and for Greensboro,” commented Greensboro Economic Development President, Dan Lynch.  Honda is one of the very best corporate partners in the world and we couldn’t have asked for a better project for Greensboro and the region.”

The ranking is conducted by Site Selection magazine on an annual basis.  This award follows the March 2008 announcement that the Greensboro – High Point MSA ranked number one for the second straight year for new business attraction among similar sized metros (between 200,000 and 1 million in population).

A member of the Greensboro Partnership, Greensboro Economic Development Alliance’s mission is to facilitate the creation of high quality jobs, attract new capital investment, retain and expand existing businesses, improve per capita income and generally improve the quality of life in Greensboro and Guilford County.  Most recently, Greensboro Economic Development Alliance announced that O’Reilly Automotive would be opening its first East Coast distribution facility in Greensboro bringing 360 new jobs and almost $42 million in new capital investment.
